Four men have been booked for the alleged kidnapping and gang rape of a 15-year-old girl in a moving car in Faridabad. The victim, a Class 8 student and resident of Sector 18, was abducted on October 26 evening and held hostage until early morning the next day.
The accused allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted her before abandoning her near her home. The police have filed an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to arrest the accused, who remain at large. The survivor is currently hospitalised and not yet fit to provide a formal statement.
Incident Details and Police Response
On the evening of October 26, the 15-year-old girl went to the Sector 18 market in Faridabad to eat momos but did not return home. Concerned family members searched for her until she arrived around 4:30 am the next day, traumatized and revealing that she had been forcibly taken into a car by four men.
According to her sister’s complaint, the accused took the victim to a secluded area, drugged, and gang raped her inside the vehicle. Police promptly registered a case at the Faridabad Old Police Station under relevant sections of BNS and POCSO after receiving the complaint. “
The victim is under medical care and not currently fit for statement,” said Station House Officer Vishnu Mittar. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the Sector 18 market vicinity and tracing vehicle movements as part of the ongoing efforts to apprehend the accused.
Community Impact and Broader Context
The incident has sparked alarm and outrage across Faridabad, highlighting the persistent vulnerabilities faced by minors, especially young girls, in public spaces and online. Authorities confirmed that the prime accused, a 22-year-old male, had known the victim for approximately two months, reportedly initiating contact digitally before the abduction.
Beyond the immediate trauma of the survivor, this case underscores an urgent need for the community and law enforcement to enhance protective measures and awareness about sexual violence prevention.
The Women and Child Welfare Department is coordinating to provide psychological counselling and legal aid to the survivor. Meanwhile, police are considering links to other sexual offence cases in the region to identify any wider networks or patterns.
The Logical Indian’s Perspective
This tragic event is a painful reminder of the systemic challenges in safeguarding children’s rights and dignity. While swift legal action remains imperative, a compassionate, multifaceted approach is essential, one that emphasises not only punishment but also prevention through education about consent, online safety, and empowerment.
Society as a whole must embrace collective responsibility, encouraging open dialogue to dismantle the stigma survivors often face and fostering environments where vulnerable individuals feel safe to speak up. The Logical Indian stands firmly with survivors, advocating for justice tempered with empathy, reforms in social and digital spaces, and strengthened community vigilance.
