A 25-year-old man named Umam was shot dead and his cousin, 27-year-old Nadeem, critically injured by unidentified assailants in Delhi’s Shastri Park area late Thursday night. The shooting occurred near the ABCD Block service road around midnight.

Both victims were taken to JPC Hospital, where Umam was declared dead, and Nadeem was stabilized before being referred for advanced treatment. Police have registered a case, are investigating motives, examining CCTV footage, and searching for the shooters.

Shooting Incident Shocks Shastri Park

The violent episode took place near Shastri Park Chowk when bystanders heard multiple gunshots. Police quickly arrived and found Umam lying unconscious on the roadside and Nadeem injured nearby near the fruit mandi area. Both victims are residents of Kailash Nagar and cousins.

Senior police officials and forensic teams inspected the scene, collecting evidence to trace the perpetrators. The sudden attack has left local residents alarmed and concerned about rising crime in the area.

Investigations and Police Response

Authorities have formed dedicated teams to apprehend those responsible, prioritising tracing suspects through CCTV footage. While the motive remains unclear, preliminary findings suggest a targeted attack by unknown individuals who fled immediately after opening fire.

Police continue questioning witnesses and collecting leads as the investigation unfolds. The community urges swift justice and greater police vigilance to prevent recurrence of such violent crimes.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

Incidents of gun violence harm families and disrupt social peace. Every life lost to such brutality is a call to deepen our commitment to empathy, dialogue and peaceful coexistence. While law enforcement works diligently, addressing socio-economic tensions and promoting community-based solutions are equally vital.
