A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) electric bus collided with a motorcycle, an e-rickshaw, and a school van near Kali Mata Mandir in Vishwas Nagar, East Delhi, on October 14, 2025. The bus, reportedly speeding and moving against traffic, dragged the bike roughly 100 metres before striking the e-rickshaw and school van carrying students.
Three adult riders and one eight-year-old student were injured, with the student suffering a broken tooth. All injured were rushed to Hedgewar Hospital. Police detained the bus driver and registered a case of negligent driving as further investigations continue.
Speed and Impact in Narrow Streets
The crash sequence, captured on CCTV, shows the DTC bus losing control on a narrow connecting street, hitting the motorcycle first, dragging it along, before slamming into the e-rickshaw. The impact spun the e-rickshaw into a nearby school van carrying children from Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Surajmal Vihar, damaging vehicles and panicking witnesses.
The school van’s driver said, “This was not a highway but a narrow street, yet the bus was moving at very high speed.” Local residents expressed alarm about reckless driving, calling for improved speed monitoring and stricter traffic law enforcement in residential areas.
Official Response and Medical Care
Responding promptly to emergency calls, police from Farsh Bazar station arrived on the scene, detaining the bus driver identified as Satish and registering a formal case against him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara), Prashant Gautam, confirmed the injuries to the two bikers, named Satish and Mahesh, the e-rickshaw driver, Dinesh, and the child passenger in the school van.
All received medical treatment at Hedgewar Hospital, with the child’s injury described as a broken tooth. Officials highlighted ongoing investigations including analysis of CCTV footage to determine cause and liability.
