AIIMS Raipur’s Dr Pugazhenthan Thangaraju Listed Among World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University

Dr Thangaraju’s groundbreaking research earns global recognition, placing him among Stanford’s elite 2% scientists for 2025.

Dr Pugazhenthan Thangaraju, Associate Professor of Pharmacology at AIIMS Raipur, was recently recognised by Stanford University among the world’s top 2% scientists for 2025.

His extensive work in clinical pharmacology, infectious diseases like leprosy, and diabetes has earned him global acclaim, evident from his 160+ publications, patents, and international fellowships. This prestigious listing amplifies Dr Thangaraju’s contribution to medical science and highlights AIIMS Raipur’s growing reputation on the world stage.

Celebrating Global Scientific Excellence

Stanford University’s global ranking evaluates scientists based on citation impact and research influence; this year, Dr Thangaraju was honoured for his pioneering integration of laboratory research with clinical and public health perspectives.

Dr Thangaraju’s research focus has led to tangible improvements in patient safety and innovative therapies, contributing widely to public health.

Impressive Academic Contributions and Innovations

Dr Thangaraju’s remarkable academic record includes authoring more than 160 publications, three books, and over 30 book chapters, along with holding 12 patents and 23 copyrights. His research spans digital healthcare tools, pharmacovigilance frameworks, and novel teaching methods.

Holding prestigious fellowships like the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) London and Glasgow, he stands among the world’s elite medical scientists. Expressing gratitude, Dr Thangaraju said, “Being listed among the world’s top 2% of scientists is a humbling honor. This achievement is not mine alone, it reflects the collective support of my mentors especially ever supporting my respected Director Sir, My department head Dr Nitin R Gaikwad sir, colleagues, students, and the AIIMS Raipur community that has constantly inspired me.”

“I dedicate this recognition to my patients, whose challenges motivate my research, and to my institute, which provides the platform to pursue innovative ideas. I hope this global acknowledgment inspires young researchers to dream big and contribute meaningfully to science and society through various,” he concluded.
