A doctor from a private hospital in Goa was arrested on Thursday for allegedly molesting a Spanish woman admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), based on a complaint filed by the patient’s sister. The incident reportedly occurred on August 31 while the patient was under the doctor’s care in the ICU.

Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions related to outraging the modesty of a woman and are conducting further investigations. The accused doctor, identified as Dr. V. Doshi, has been suspended from duty by the hospital pending inquiry.

The complaint, filed by the sister of the Spanish patient, alleges that Dr. V. Doshi, who was on ICU duty at a private hospital in Old Goa, inappropriately touched the woman at several places while she was admitted in critical condition.

Police officials confirmed the arrest following the complaint and said the case has been registered under sections dealing with outraging the modesty of a woman.
