Comprehensive Relief Package to Rebuild Lives and Infrastructure
The ₹1,500 crore relief package aims at swift rehabilitation of people and restoration of infrastructure damaged by floods, landslides, and heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh. It focuses on rebuilding homes under the PM Awas Yojana with geotagging for accurate damage assessment, restoring national highways and schools, and supplying relief through the PM National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
The package includes support for livestock owners with mini-kits and plans for groundwater recharge structures to improve water management amid climate stresses. Additional targeted assistance will be provided to farmers without power connections to revive agricultural livelihoods.

Impact of Rains and Disaster Response Efforts
Persistent monsoon rains and catastrophic cloudbursts caused flash floods and landslides in multiple districts including Kangra, Mandi, Chamba, and Kullu, resulting in loss of life, displacement, and damage to critical infrastructure. NDRF, SDRF, and other emergency teams have been actively engaged in rescue operations, relief distribution, and damage assessment.
The Central government deployed inter-ministerial teams for thorough evaluation of the disaster’s extent, laying groundwork for further assistance based on state memoranda and ground reports. Modi’s interaction with affected communities underscored government commitment to comprehensive support.
The Logical Indian’s Perspective
The rapid response and significant relief package demonstrate the essence of empathetic governance amidst climate-related disasters. The Logical Indian believes genuine recovery must extend beyond rebuilding physical infrastructure toward restoring livelihoods, dignity, and resilience for vulnerable populations. Transparent, inclusive, and sustainable disaster management policies are vital to facing increasing climate volatility.
