Minerva Academy FC’s U-14 team created a historic milestone by winning the Norway Cup 2025, the world’s biggest youth football tournament held in Oslo, Norway. Their emphatic 16-1 victory over Norwegian side Sverresborg Fotball in the final set new standards of dominance and skill on a global stage.

Over the course of just eight matches, Minerva scored an astonishing 130 goals, averaging over 16 goals per game, while conceding only four, underscoring their formidable offense and solid defence.

This triumph was achieved without any government or commercial sponsorship, highlighting the sheer passion, determination, and community support behind the team and its grassroots academy.

Unstoppable Journey to the Norway Cup Title

Minerva Academy’s path to glory was marked by unprecedented scorelines and memorable performances. Beginning their campaign in the group stages, they secured overwhelming victories such as a 25-0 thrashing of Aksla IL, 15-0 against Forde IL 3, and 22-0 over Krokelvdalen IL, establishing them as the clear favourites. The knockout rounds saw no respite for opponents, as Minerva continued their blitzkrieg with wins like 11-0 over Roglands BK, 17-0 against Amdal-Tokke FK, and 18-1 versus FK Fyllingsdalen in the quarterfinals.

The semifinal posed a sterner challenge against Palestine’s Ramathel Charif Club, but Minerva prevailed 8-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Reeson and key contributions from Raj and Punshiba. In the grand finale against host club Sverresborg Football, the Indian side displayed remarkable skill and teamwork. Star players like Danamoni and Raj each scored hat-tricks, helping Minerva sweep to a commanding 16-1 victory that electrified the crowd in Oslo.

From Humble Origins to Global Recognition

Based in Punjab and established in 2005, Minerva Academy FC has steadily emerged as a powerhouse of youth football development in India. With over a hundred residential academies nationwide, it is dedicated to nurturing raw talent and fostering ambition beyond local leagues. The Norway Cup victory completes an exceptional European tour, where Minerva also clinched prestigious titles at the Gothia Cup 2023 and Dana Cup 2025, positioning themselves among the world’s elite youth teams.

This achievement is especially noteworthy given the lack of government or commercial support. Minerva’s success underscores the potential of grassroots sports driven by community effort, hard work, and the unyielding spirit of young athletes. Their stellar performance challenges stereotypes about Indian football and offers a fresh narrative of hope and global competitiveness.
