Tremors Shake Delhi-NCR: Public Response and Official Statements

The quake’s impact was felt across Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad, with residents reporting intense shaking and a rumbling sound, especially in high-rise buildings. Many people rushed outdoors in fear, recalling the experience as both sudden and alarming.

Delhi’s Seismic Risk and Preparedness

Delhi is situated in Seismic Zone IV, indicating a high risk of moderate to strong earthquakes. The city has experienced nearly 500 tremors in the last three decades, with experts warning that localised quakes can feel particularly strong due to shallow depths and dense urban infrastructure.

Previous significant earthquakes in the region have highlighted the need for strict adherence to building codes and regular disaster preparedness drills. The NCS and disaster management authorities continue to monitor seismic activity and provide updates, urging residents to remain informed and ready for potential aftershocks.

The Logical Indian advocates for sustained public awareness, enforcement of safety standards in construction, and investment in early warning systems.
