2017 will see many important elections take place in India. The Election Commission today announced the schedule for five Assembly elections.
Uttar Pradesh: The 2017 UP Legislative Assembly election will be held in seven phases starting from February 11. Phase I on Feb 11, Phase 2 on Feb 15, Phase 3 on Feb 19, Phase 4 on Feb 23, Phase 5 on Feb 27, Phase 6 on March 4, Phase 7 on March 8.
Punjab: The 2017 Punjab Legislative Assembly election will be held ON February 4, 2017.
Goa: February 4
Manipur: Two phases — March 4 and March 8
Uttarakhand: February 15
Counting will be held together on March 11.
Polling booths by women
The Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi announced that in the impending elections, polling stations managed entiredly by women will be set up in some areas. Also, pollice station-wise mapping of persons with disabilities is also being done and these elections will be disabled-friendly.

The 2017 Indian Presidential election will take place before 25 July: The President of India is the head of State. He or she is elected by an electoral college consisting of the elected members of both houses of Parliament, the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of all 29 States, and the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of the Union Territories of Delhi and Puducherry. The vote takes place by secret ballot, and the list of candidates is still speculative.
Legislative Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat are expected to take place before the end of the year.
