13-year-old Priyanshi Singh, a class 9 student from Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, committed suicide after her father was allegedly humiliated by her school teachers and was taken into police custody as molestation charges were imposed on him after he was not able to pay school fees. The incident took place in Sihani Gate area on Wednesday.

Several teachers from Priyanshi’s old school, DSP School, barged into her house and demanded her father Ratan Singh Tomar fee arrears of Rs 11,000 for his four children. His three daughters Priyanshi, Krishna, Anushka and son Sadaksh, were students in DSP School. Ratan had enrolled them in the school but due to fee hike, he had withdrawn their names from the school and admitted them into a new school.

On Wednesday afternoon, 11 teachers from the school came to their house and started abusing Ratan Singh. Reportedly, the principal also slapped Ratan in front of his children. Ratan had told them that his wife had gone to her native village in Jalaun to arrange for the money, but the teachers got infuriated and called the cops claiming Ratan had tried to molest them. The police came and arrested Ratan Singh.

Unable to cope up with the scenario, Priyanshi committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. The neighbour informed the police and her body was recovered after breaking the door of her room.

The police officials on Thursday reportedly arrested some of the teachers for the abetment of suicide. They also said that the teachers’ molestation charges against her father were false.
