“I live in two BHK flat with 46 animals that include dogs, eagles, horses, cats, hawks, and a monkey. I am looking for a place to provide shelter to abandoned animals,” says Shalini Agarwal, an Animal Rights Activist from Bareilly.

The dogs of the society where Shalini lives would always come running to her. She would feed them and pet them lovingly. Shalini was once taking care of a pregnant dog in her locality. She was shattered when the society people killed the dog as they were afraid that the puppies who will create chaos in the society. Pained, she decided to work for animals and started her organisation Mercy for All.

Since then, Shalini has been taking care of abandoned animals. Even though she has asked other people to help, due to the lack of funds and space, she has to manage on her own. She brings all the rescue animals to her place and takes care of them.

Animals are an important part of the ecosystem, and people should be more sympathetic towards them. Therefore, we need to invest heavily in protecting all the species of animals. She receives a lot of calls every day from people seeking help to save the lives of animals lying on the roads. She tries her best to save them, sometimes bringing them back with her if they need more care.

Shalini has to be quick in her response and attention. If the hospitals are far, she puts up a tent on a roadside and treats there. With the help of Veterinary doctor, she helps cure the injured animals. And now she knows which medicines to use for which animals.
