In a disturbing incident from Faridabad’s Roshan Nagar locality, 25-year-old Tanu Rajput was allegedly murdered by her husband Arun Singh and her in-laws nearly two months ago. The family allegedly concealed the crime by reporting her missing and spreading false claims that she had eloped with a boyfriend.
After persistent efforts by Tanu’s family, police unearthed her allegedly decomposed body buried in a 10-foot-deep pit outside the in-laws’ home on June 20, 2025. The accused have since allegedly absconded, and police have launched a manhunt. Authorities have assured strict legal action following the completion of forensic investigations.
A Meticulous Alleged Cover-Up and Chilling Discovery
Tanu, who married Arun Singh in 2023, was allegedly reported missing on April 25, 2025. Her husband allegedly filed the missing person report, claiming she had left voluntarily due to intellectual challenges. Meanwhile, her mother-in-law allegedly misled neighbours and Tanu’s parents by asserting that she had eloped with a boyfriend.
However, police investigations revealed a sinister truth: the family had allegedly buried her body in a pit they had dug under the pretext of constructing a soak pit to prevent waterlogging near their home.
The burial was allegedly carried out late at night without involving any outsiders, and the pit was covered using an earthmover to avoid suspicion. The decomposed body was allegedly identified by the clothes Tanu was last seen wearing. Following a post-mortem examination at Badshah Khan Civil Hospital, the body was handed over to her grieving family.
Family’s Persistent Doubts Lead to Alleged Breakthrough
Tanu’s family, originally from Khera village in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district, refused to accept the alleged elopement narrative. Their relentless questioning and insistence on a thorough investigation prompted police to re-examine the case.
A detailed probe uncovered inconsistencies in the statements of the husband and in-laws, allegedly leading to the discovery of the burial site. The accused, including Arun Singh and his parents, have allegedly fled and are currently absconding. Police have formed special teams to track them down.
Investigators suspect the alleged murder took place on the very day she was reported missing. While the exact motive is still under investigation, dowry harassment and domestic violence remain key lines of inquiry, reflecting a troubling pattern in similar cases across the region.
The Logical Indian’s Perspective
This tragic case underscores the persistent vulnerabilities women allegedly face within their marital homes and the urgent need for systemic reforms to protect them. The deliberate and allegedly concealed crime, along with the emotional trauma inflicted on Tanu’s family, highlights the deep-rooted social malaise of gender-based violence and the failure of early intervention mechanisms.
The Logical Indian firmly condemns such acts of brutality and calls for enhanced community vigilance, better support systems for women, and swift judicial processes to deter alleged perpetrators. How can society, law enforcement, and policymakers collaborate more effectively to ensure that no woman suffers such alleged injustice in silence?
