According to local sources, Raja and Sonam were last seen with three unidentified men, reportedly heading towards Mawlakhiat. Their rented scooter was later found abandoned in Sohrarim, raising immediate alarm. The discovery of Raja’s body on June 2 near Weisawdong Falls confirmed the worst fears. The body was recovered with a bloodstained machete and a raincoat. With Sonam missing, a massive search operation was launched.
Days later, she was located unconscious at a roadside dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, after allegedly calling her family for assistance. Following medical treatment, she surrendered to the police, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.
