Five individuals across India have been given a new lease of life after organs from a brain-dead donor were successfully transplanted in multiple cities, facilitated by a coordinated effort involving the Indian Air Force (IAF), medical teams, and organ donation authorities.
A kidney and a cornea were airlifted by an IAF aircraft from Bengaluru to Delhi, while other organs — including a liver, kidney, cornea, and skin — were transplanted in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, the other kidney, cornea, and the first-ever skin harvest at CHAFB were transplanted in Bengaluru with support from Victoria Hospital’s medical teams. The liver was successfully transplanted at Gleneagles BGS Hospital, Bengaluru.
