The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially declared the Class 12 board exam results for 2025 on May 13. The results are now live on official portals including cbseresults.nic.in, cbse.gov.in, DigiLocker, and via SMS. Class 10 results are expected to be announced shortly.

Vijayawada has emerged as the top-performing district, continuing southern India’s strong academic streak. CBSE has introduced a new relative grading system this year to ease academic pressure, and officials have urged students to rely only on official sources for their results.

Southern India Continues to Shine as Vijayawada Tops the Charts

This year’s CBSE exams saw participation from over 42 lakh students-24.12 lakh in Class 10 and 17.88 lakh in Class 12-across 7,842 centres in 26 countries. Vijayawada, Trivandrum, and Chennai have once again secured the highest pass percentages, with Vijayawada leading the pack.

According to CBSE Controller of Examinations Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the Class 12 pass percentage stands at approximately 87.98%, a slight improvement over last year. “The consistent performance of southern regions reflects their strong educational infrastructure and dedicated teaching community,” he said. Students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject to pass, with grace marks awarded in select cases.

How to Check Your CBSE 2025 Results: Step-by-Step Guide

Students can access their results easily through multiple official channels. Here’s how:

  6. Alternative options: Students can also access their results via DigiLocker by logging into their account or receive results through SMS by sending their roll number to designated numbers as announced by CBSE.

CBSE advises students to avoid unofficial websites or social media pages claiming to provide results to prevent misinformation or scams.

Background: A New Grading System and Digital Focus

The 2025 board exams were conducted between 15 February and 4 April, with practical exams completed by mid-February. This year, CBSE introduced a relative grading system that assesses students’ performance in comparison to their peers, aiming to reduce unhealthy competition and academic stress.

The board’s digital-first approach ensures students receive legally valid, instantly accessible marksheets via DigiLocker, facilitating smoother admissions and job applications. “We are committed to making the examination process more student-friendly and transparent,” said Dr. Bhardwaj.

Southern districts like Vijayawada have consistently topped the charts in recent years, reflecting strong regional educational ecosystems.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The CBSE results season is a pivotal moment filled with anticipation, hope, and sometimes anxiety for millions of students and their families. Vijayawada’s top ranking highlights the success of dedicated educators and students, but also draws attention to the need for equitable education across all regions.

The new relative grading system and digital access are welcome steps towards reducing pressure and promoting fairness. As we celebrate the achievers, it is crucial to support those who may not have met their expectations this year. How can we, as a society, create an environment where every student feels valued and empowered, regardless of exam outcomes?
