In his first public address since the launch of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Indian armed forces for their bravery and precision in striking nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on May 7, in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.

Modi condemned the brutality of the terrorists, emphasised that talks with Pakistan will now be limited strictly to terrorism or PoK, and declared that India has given its armed forces a free hand to eliminate terror threats. He dedicated the courage of the armed forces to every mother, sister, and daughter of India, underscoring the nation’s resolve to protect its people and sovereignty.

PM Modi’s Strong Message: Nation’s Resolve and Armed Forces’ Valor

Addressing the nation with emotion and firmness, PM Modi said, “On May 7, the whole world saw our resolve turn into action,” highlighting the precision strikes that targeted Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad terror bases in Pakistan and PoK.

He condemned the Pahalgam attack as barbaric, where innocent tourists were killed after being asked their religion, calling it a “huge loss” personally. Modi saluted the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists for their role in Operation Sindoor, stating the operation was not just a military action but a reflection of the feelings of millions of Indians.

He reiterated that terrorism will be met with a befitting response on India’s terms and that the government has given the military full freedom to act decisively.

Background and Diplomatic Context: Operation Sindoor and Ceasefire

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 civilians including Indian and Nepali tourists. The operation involved coordinated strikes on nine terror camps and infrastructure sites inside Pakistan and PoK.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh confirmed that over 100 terrorists were neutralised. After four days of intense military exchanges, India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on May 10, following talks between the Directors General of Military Operations of both countries.

Modi’s speech came shortly after these developments, signalling a firm but measured stance amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to stabilise the region.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

While PM Modi’s address powerfully conveyed India’s resolve and honoured the bravery of its armed forces, The Logical Indian believes that lasting peace requires more than military might. The dedication of courage to every mother, sister, and daughter is a poignant reminder of the human cost of conflict.

We urge both India and Pakistan to pursue dialogue grounded in empathy and mutual respect, breaking the cycle of violence that has long plagued the region. As citizens, how can we contribute to fostering understanding and peace beyond borders, ensuring such tragedies never repeat?
