Border Escalation: 400 Pakistani Drones Strike Punjab, J&K, and Rajasthan; Family Injured in Ferozepur

A massive wave of Pakistani drones targeted 36 Indian border locations, injuring civilians and escalating regional tensions.

A surge in drone incursions from Pakistan has been reported along India’s northern borders, with defence officials confirming that 300–400 drones targeted 26 locations across Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Rajasthan over the past three days.

In a serious incident, a drone strike in Ferozepur, Punjab, set a civilian home on fire, critically injuring a woman and severely burning two other family members.

Most drones were intercepted by Indian air defences, but the attacks prompted blackouts and heightened security in several border districts. The situation marks a significant escalation in cross-border hostilities, with both India and Pakistan exchanging accusations and retaliatory actions.

Civilian Casualties and Community Fear Amid Drone Strikes

The most severe incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, when a suspected armed drone dropped an explosive device on a house in Ferozepur’s border village of Arif Ke, Punjab. The attack left Sukhwinder Kaur in critical condition with extensive burns, while her husband Lakhwinder Singh and their son Monu Singh suffered lesser injuries.

Dr Kamal Bagi, who is treating the victims at a private hospital, stated, “Due to a drone bomb, three people got injured. The woman is in critical condition with severe burns. The other two have lesser burns. We have immediately started their treatment. They are from the same family.”

Local police and army units responded swiftly, cordoning off and sanitising the affected area. “We received information about three people being injured. They have burn injuries. Doctors are treating them.

Most of the drones have been neutralised by the army,” confirmed Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, a senior police officer in Ferozepur. Residents in the region have expressed growing anxiety, with many families spending nights in safe rooms or community shelters due to the threat of further attacks.

Heightened Security, Blackouts, and Diplomatic Fallout

The Ministry of Defence revealed that the drones-many believed to be Turkish-made Asisguard Songar models-were likely used to test Indian air defences and conduct surveillance. India’s S-400 air defence system and other counter-drone measures reportedly intercepted the majority of the aerial threats.

In response to the attacks, authorities enforced precautionary blackouts in at least six border districts across Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, and Rajasthan, aiming to reduce visibility for incoming drones and safeguard civilian lives.

These drone incidents follow closely on the heels of India’s Operation Sindoor-a targeted strike on alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan after the deadly Pahalgam massacre on April 22. The recent escalation has led to a sharp increase in cross-border artillery shelling, drone warfare, and civilian displacement.

Both nations have summoned each other’s diplomats, trading accusations of violating ceasefire agreements and targeting non-combatants. Security experts warn that the use of drones marks a new and dangerous phase in Indo-Pakistani hostilities, with the potential for rapid escalation.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective

The Logical Indian is deeply alarmed by the deliberate targeting of civilians and the rapid militarisation of drone technology along the India-Pakistan border. Such actions not only endanger innocent lives but also erode the fragile trust that is essential for peace in the region.

We stand firmly for dialogue, empathy, and restraint, urging both governments to prioritise humanitarian considerations over military escalation. As communities on both sides endure fear, injury, and displacement, we must collectively ask: How can we, as citizens, foster a culture of peace and understanding that transcends borders and prevents further suffering?
