The Indian Army on Saturday launched a targeted operation destroying several key Pakistani military posts and terrorist launch pads near Jammu, which, according to defence sources, were being used to launch tube-launched drones for cross-border attacks.
This decisive action came as a direct response to a recent wave of Pakistani drone and missile strikes that targeted multiple Indian military and civilian locations, escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) and the western border. Both sides have reported damage and casualties, with Indian officials reiterating their commitment to a “measured and proportionate” response while warning against further provocations.
Escalation Along the LoC: Drone Warfare and Retaliation
The latest round of hostilities began after Pakistani forces reportedly launched coordinated drone and missile attacks at 26 locations across Jammu, Punjab, and other strategic areas, targeting both military installations and civilian infrastructure.
Indian air defence units responded swiftly, intercepting and destroying several drones, though debris from downed UAVs caused injuries to civilians in Ferozpur and damage to property in border districts. In retaliation, the Indian Army conducted precision strikes on Pakistani air defence facilities and destroyed a key radar system, as well as several terrorist launch pads believed to be staging grounds for further attacks.
A senior Indian Army spokesperson stated, “Pakistan’s blatant attempt to violate India’s sovereignty and endanger civilians is unacceptable. Our response has been focused and proportionate, aimed at neutralising immediate threats.”
Operation Sindoor and Government Measures
The Indian military’s response, dubbed Operation Sindoor, was launched in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives and marked a major escalation in cross-border terrorism. As part of the operation, Indian forces targeted nine terror hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, further exposing what officials described as Islamabad’s “decades-old nexus with terrorism.”
The government has also taken non-military measures, ordering OTT platforms to remove all Pakistani-origin content and reviewing security protocols across sensitive regions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with senior defence officials, reinforcing India’s preparedness and warning that any future attacks would invite “quality action.” Pakistan, meanwhile, has denied initiating drone strikes and accused India of targeting its military bases, including those near Islamabad, calling for international intervention.

The Logical Indian’s Perspective
The current escalation along the LoC and the western border underscores the grave risks posed by the use of drones and cross-border strikes in an already volatile region. While India’s actions are aimed at protecting its sovereignty and ensuring the safety of its citizens, lasting peace can only be achieved through restraint, dialogue, and a commitment to de-escalation from both sides.
The Logical Indian believes that both nations must prioritise diplomatic engagement and transparent communication to prevent further loss of life and property. As the region stands at a crossroads, we urge our readers to reflect: What steps can India and Pakistan take to move beyond cycles of retaliation and foster a climate of trust, security, and cooperation for the future?
