The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 results today (17 April) via jeemain.nta.nic.in, alongside the final answer key and JEE Advanced cut-off.
Over 10 lakh candidates across 531 centres in India and 15 international locations appeared for the April 2–9 exams. While officials confirmed the release date, candidates report delays in live uploads, prompting NTA to urge aspirants to refresh the portal periodically.
Exam Details and Key Challenges
The Session 2 exams for Paper 1 (BE/BTech) were held on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8, while Paper 2A/B (BArch/BPlanning) concluded on 9 April.
Students reported NCERT-aligned questions but flagged issues like blank response sheets and provisional answer key errors. The NTA addressed these concerns on social media, stating, “We adhere to a transparent process to ensure fairness,” and confirmed final scores will reflect revised keys.
Normalisation Process and Tie-Breaker Rules
The NTA uses a normalisation method to adjust raw scores across shifts, accounting for difficulty variations.
This year’s tie-breaker criteria prioritise higher marks in mathematics, physics, and chemistry (in that order), followed by age and application number. Officials reiterated that ranks consider candidates’ best scores from both sessions.
Steps to View Results (Once Live)
Candidates can access their scores by:
- Visiting jeemain.nta.nic.in and clicking the “JEE Main 2025 Session 2 Result” link.
- Logging in with their application number, date of birth, and security PIN.
- Downloading the scorecard containing subject-wise marks, percentile, and All India Rank (AIR).
- Verifying details and saving/printing the document for counselling.
Expected Cut-off and Next Steps
Experts predict a marginal rise in cut-offs compared to 2024, with general category eligibility likely above 95 percentile. The top 2.5 lakh qualifiers will register for JEE Advanced, followed by JoSAA counselling in June for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
Nitin Vijay of Motion Education noted category-wise projections: EWS (85+), OBC-NCL (83+), SC (65+), and ST (50+).
The Logical Indian’s Perspective
Transparency in competitive exams remains paramount to safeguarding students’ trust. While NTA’s responsiveness to answer key concerns is commendable, delays in result uploads exacerbate anxiety among aspirants. Institutions must prioritise timely communication and mental health support.
