He alleges that these personal issues have led to false molestation charges against him, which he believes are intended to tarnish his reputation and divert attention from the allegations made by students.
Allegations Against Dr. Aniruddha Kumar
A group of 12 current students and two former students have come forward with serious allegations against Dr. Kumar, claiming he has subjected them to inappropriate behavior, threats, and physical assault over several years. The complainants allege that Dr. Kumar used his position to exploit female students, with two former students submitting complaints to the Assam Women’s Commission detailing incidents of severe misconduct.
The allegations include claims that Dr. Kumar engaged in acts of violence that left the victims traumatized. One complainant stated, “All of us can’t be lying,” emphasizing that their experiences are part of a broader pattern of behavior rather than isolated incidents.
Students’ Statements on University and Legal Actions
Following the emergence of these allegations, students said that Assam University has suspended Dr. Kumar and initiated an internal investigation. They noted that the university’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is currently gathering testimonies from all parties involved to assess the situation thoroughly.
Local law enforcement has also intervened, registering an FIR against Dr. Kumar on November 28, 2024. The Logical Indian has received a copy of the FIR from the students, which indicates that he has been warned not to leave the city as police build a case regarding the allegations against him.
Claims of Intimidation
The complainants allege that Dr. Kumar has attempted to intimidate them during this process. They report feeling isolated and targeted by his supporters within the university community, which they claim adds another layer of psychological pressure to their already difficult situation. One student remarked on their experiences of ostracism, stating, “We are being isolated,” which they believe is an attempt to silence their voices amid the unfolding drama.

The students have urged for swift action against Dr. Kumar and are demanding accountability through legal proceedings under relevant laws concerning sexual harassment and discrimination. They emphasize the need for systemic changes within the university to protect female students from potential harm.
