The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on April 8, released its manifesto, almost after a week of Congress launching its manifesto. The BJP in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Financial Minister Arun Jaitley, BJP party president Amit Shah launched it manifesto – Sankalp Bharat Sashakt. The party has listed down 75 milestones that India will achieve by 2022, if BJP forms government at the centre. The party has claimed that they have taken inputs from 6 crore people, thus making a new world record.
Here are the key takeaways from the manifesto :
Farmers: The party promised that if it comes to power, the PM-KISAN scheme will cover all the farmers in the country. They also promised that they will double farmers’ income by 2022. It also said that they are going to provide short-term agriculture loan at 0% interest for 1-5 years. The maximum amount for a loan cannot exceed more than 1 lakh. In its manifesto, it also claimed that the party will outlay Rs 25 lakh crore to increase the productivity of the farm sector. It also said that small or marginal farmers crossing the age of 60 will be entitled to the pension.
National Security: The party has clearly tabled its thought over terrorism. It had mentioned that it will have a zero tolerance policy against terrorism. It further said that the armed forces will not be held back by the government to annihilate terrorism. It further mentioned that the party will increase the fund for defence related equipments and weapons.
Healthcare: In terms of healthcare, the party said that it plans to open 1.5 lakh health and welfare centre with 75 medical and PG medical colleges. The party also mentioned that it will provide telemedicine and diagnostic laboratory facilities at Health and Wellness Centres by 2022.
Economy: The party stressing on the distress of middle-class families, which constitutes the largest proportion of voters said that it will revise the tax slab so that people in this section can have more purchasing power. The party also intends to improve the country’s rank in ‘Ease of Doing business’. It also aspires to transform the country into the third largest economy of the world by 2030. It is going to make India a US$ 5 trillion economy by 2025 and US$ 10 trillion by 2032.
Jammu & Kashmir: The party said to solve the problem in the disputed valley they are likely to repeal Article 370 and Article 35A of the constitution.
Poverty: The party aims to decrease the number of families living under the poverty line. The party also promised that it will provide Pakka houses for people living in kaccha house or those who don’t have access to housing.
