A Kolkata model-turned-actor, Ushoshi Sengupta, was harassed and her Uber driver was beaten up by unidentified miscreants in the middle of the night on June 17. After she complained about the biker gang, cops arrested seven of them on June 19.
Biker Gang Chased The Cab
The former Miss India took an Uber from her workplace late at night. A male colleague accompanied her.
Soon after the cab crossed Exide More, a gang of 10 bikers chased her cab and started hitting it.
They pulled the cab driver out and started beating him. Ushoshi recorded the incident and rushed to the nearest police station.
“I ran across the street to Maidan Police station, I saw an officer standing, and I requested him to come with me, he told me that this is not under them but the jurisdiction of Bhawanipore Police station,” she said in her post.
However, after multiple requests, the officers went to the spot. When the cops arrived, the bikers pushed them and fled.

“Dragged Her Out”
After the attack, when the situation seemed handled, six boys from the same gang stopped the car in Lake Gardens.
They pelted stones at the car and dragged Ushoshi out of the vehicle to break her phone with which she had recorded the incident. At this point, she screamed to get the attention of locals.
The miscreants fled again. She reached out to Charu Market police station to lodge an FIR, but she was again asked to complain to the Bhawanipore police station.
“At this point, I gave up and started shouting. 1:30 am. No female police officer at the station. After raising a lot of questions, the officer took my complaint but refused to take the uber drivers to complain stating that 2 FIR’s can’t be taken for the same complaint,” recalled Usoshi.
What Did The Police Say?
With the help of video provided by Sengupta and CCTV footage, the cops have arrested seven people in connection with the incident. Accused were identified as Sheikh Ranit, Sheikh Gani, Sheikh Shabir Ali, Fardeen Khan, Sheikh Wasim, Atif Khan, and Sheikh Imran Ali.
The Kolkata Police official Twitter handle tweeted that the police have taken the incident very seriously and the Commissioner of Police has asked to initiate an inquiry regarding the non-registration of F.I.R.
