Aligarh, UP: Petrol Pumps Deny Fuel To Those Riding Two-Wheelers Without Helmets

Supported by

To create awareness about road safety and traffic norms, petrol pumps in Aligarh deny fuel to people riding two-wheelers without helmets. The decision was taken by District Magistrate Chandra Bhushan and was appreciated by many workers and managers at various petrol pumps.

The workers have started instructing people to carry a helmet and have refused to give fuel to those without helmets.

Amanullah Khan, a social worker, applauded the move by the DM and was pleased that the rule was being followed. “I came in without a helmet and was denied petrol in almost all the pumps I visited in Aligarh today. I congratulate the DM and his entire team for this initiative and think it should be strictly followed for the safety of the public. This will save a lot of lives,” Khan told ANI.

Petrol pump owners welcomed the move. They believed such a step could save the lives of people, even though it causes minor inconvenience to the riders.

“This is a good move. Helmets are important for the safety of the riders. Some people, however, are taking helmets from others to fill petrol, this should not be done. The DM’s move is a good one, we are relaxing it only for people who come in case of a medical emergency,” Sushant Verma, the manager of a petrol pump, told the ANI
