Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy lost his cool on Wednesday morning after workers of Raichur’s Yermarus Thermal Power Station (YTPS) stopped his bus demanding him to address their grievances. Kumaraswamy was on his way to Karegudda, Manvi Taluk as a part of his ‘Grama Vastavya’ programme.
“You voted for Narendra Modi and want me to get your works done! You want me to give you respect. Should I baton-charge you? Leave the place,” Kumaraswamy shouted at protesters for voting for the Modi government in the Lok Sabha polls.
However, talking to a television channel the CM explained that he got angry because the workers blocked his convoy despite seeking 15 days time to address their issues. Further, he asked whether anyone would have accepted if PM’s convoy was blocked in the same way. “This government is tolerant, but it is not incapable and knows how to deal with situations,” he said.
Criticised For Questioning People’s Mandate
Commenting on Kumaraswamy’s outburst against the workers, BJP MLC and spokesperson N Ravi Kumar told PTI, “This is against democracy. The chief minister should immediately seek an apology from the people. He should call them and hear them. If this continues, the BJP will agitate against him across the state.”
Stating that Karnataka CM mocked people’s mandate and took over the state, Karnataka BJP tweeted, “This is what happens when a party with just 38 MLA aligned to 1 family mocks people’s mandate to take over Karnataka.”
“FOP is integral part of our constitution & since @hd_kumaraswamy don’t believe in it he should simply step down,” the tweet further stated.
