Indian Football Team Captain Sunil Chhetri, 35, took to Twitter to congratulate and show pride over team Blue Tigers’ exceptional performance in the match against the Asian Champions, Qatar.
“THAT is my team and THOSE are my boys! Cannot describe how proud I am at this moment,” the Captain tweeted.
Chhetri could not participate in the match that took place on September 10th, Tuesday, due to ill-health. However, he expressed his pride after the team was shortlisted following the second round qualification for the World Cup.
“Not a big result for the table, but in terms of a fight, as big as it can get. Huge credit to the coaching staff and the dressing room,” Chettri added.

Even though the match ended with a goal-less draw against Qatar, which ranks 41 places higher than India, the Blue Tigers successfully finished the second round qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The laudable goalkeeping and strong defending by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made the Blue Tigers victorious.

“Definitely a night to remember …” Sandhu tweeted after the match. He expressed hope for victory in the matches ahead, against Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Both the teams fall in the Group-E category and rank lower than India.
India is all set to host Bangladesh in its next qualifier match scheduled for October 15.
After these matches, 8 winning teams and four best runner-ups will be shortlisted for the third round qualification of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
