Fact Check
There is no video or news from any authentic media organisation, where one can find her publicly demanding land, instead we landed up on a satirical website named the fauxy with similar claims, which posted this news as satire and is origin of the false news being spread.
The headline of the article reads: Ranu Mandal Demands Land for Church Too in the Disputed Ayodhya Land
This website says, “Mondal decided to file a claim demanding some land in Ayodhya to be dedicated for Christians as well so that they can build a grand Church. She said that this will be a display of true secularism of India if Supreme Court allots some land to Christians. I will also request Sidhu ji to come forward and demand some land for Gurudwara.”
On further digging deep into the website to get an idea about its authenticity, we got to know that the Fauxy is a satirical website. Its about section clearly states that “The Fauxy is a media company that connects with young, intelligent and diverse audiences that are shaping our future. Through fearless journalism (LOL), thought-provoking comedy, and high-impact storytelling we aim to start a conversation around subjects that are usually viewed as a taboo for today’s youth.”
Netizens fell for a satirical website and believed the information to be true. Thus the news is false and one should avoid sharing such information without verifying on social media.
Creating or sharing fake news is never justified. We have a responsibility to verify everything that we post on the internet. To ensure that our national debate is healthy and well-informed, each and every one of us has a responsibility of treating what we read with a pinch of salt, a spoonful of doubt, and a flood of research.
To all the political parties and leaders, ruling or opposition, please don’t be a part of the problem. Be part of the solution. For a better future, for a better nation.
