Meanwhile, a few YouTube videos are being shared by Pakistani users stating that Sikhs have put up Pakistan’s flag as a token of gratitude for opening up the Kartarpur Corridor. A few Pakistani YouTube channels have even covered this video.

Fact Check:

The flag on the left is the Islamic Flag, which has only the green background, crescent moon and star symbols | The flag on the right is the Pakistan Flag, which has a vertical white stripe on its left.

The video may be true, but misleading. The flags hoisted on the houses are Islamic Flags, not Pakistani Flags.

On looking closely at the video, one would see that some of the flags have blue stripes, while one flag has a white background with a green and red stripe.

Here are photographs of the flags which were hoisted, with the screengrabs:

This flag was later held by one of the residents in the colony in Jalandhar. On looking closely, there are two vertical stripes, a black and white one as well as a blue one, which is an Islamic Flag, not the flag of Pakistan

In an article reported by Dainik Bhaskar, a few Hindu Right Wing politicians objected to the Muslims living in the colony putting up the flags to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad, to which the latter refused to remove them. Ishant Sharma, a Shiv Sena politician then got policemen, who made the residents remove the flag. However, after a lot of convincing that they did not unfurl Pakistan flags, they were allowed to put them back.

Conclusion

Many people have always been confused between the Islamic and the Pakistani flags. It can be safe to say that the flags in the video are not Pakistani flags. Also, as said in the Pakistani videos, Sikhs did not hoist the Pakistan flag on their rooftops to show gratitude to the neighbouring country for opening up the Kartarpur Corridor.
