Bengaluru FC’s (Football Club) gesture to keep fans first is winning hearts all over. When BFC’s fan Meghana Nair reached out to the team for permission to carry water during their upcoming match, the club went out of their way to ensure a comfortable viewing experience for the pregnant woman by offering her the Owner’s Box.
On Thursday, the 33-week pregnant maths teacher reached out to the club on Twitter seeking permission to carry hot water to the Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday.
“Hello @bengalurufc! Is there any possibility that I could permission to carry some hot water from home in a reusable bottle?? I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant & I need to stay hydrated also take my medication. It was terribly inconvenient when I came to watch previous matches!!,” she tweeted.

Within two hours, the team responded to her tweet and gave her an upgrade to the owner’s box, which has hot water and other facilities.

Nair has had terrible experiences when she went for previous matches. “There are no lifts in the stadium. You often have to climb four floors to get to your seat. I was able to manage because it was much easier at the time. We usually seat ourselves here in the West Block and it can get quite chaotic. In our last game (against Chennaiyin FC), the stands were crowded and the supply of food and water was not enough,” she told the Sportstar.
“When Meghana’s tweet came in, it took less than a minute to get a very willing nod from the BFC management to have her watch what will be a packed-to-capacity game from the comfort of the owners’ box,” BFC media manager Kunaal Majgaonkar was quoted by the media.
For BFC, their fans have always been a priority. “Our fans have always been at the core of everything we do at Bengaluru FC. This involves us going that extra yard to hear them out and respond. It takes a lot to support an Indian football club. We understand this and are happy to go above and beyond to give back to the fans,” Mandar Tamhane, CEO of Bengaluru FC told The Times Of India.
“When our media team turned up with Meghana’s tweet, it didn’t take us any time to agree that the owners’ box is where she should watch a sold-out game from,” Tamhane added.
BFC will be playing against Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League(ISL) on Saturday, November 23. With six points, Bengaluru FC is at the fifth position.
