In Karnataka’s Mandya District a man chopped off another man’s head after a quarrel and arrived at the police station with a head to surrender himself as reported by The Hindustan Times. According to Police, Pashupati (24) got into a fight with Girish (28) after he made disrespectful remarks on Pashupati’s mother.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Shivaprakash Devaraj said “We are investigating the incident, but the accused and the victim were good friends. It appears that the victim died in the morning, just before his head was brought to the station.”
Reportedly, this is the third incident where the alleged murderer went to the police station with the victim’s head to confess the crime. In the first incident on September 11, a man killed his wife on suspicion that she is having an affair and brought her head to Chikkamagaluru’s Ajjampura Police Station.
The second incident took place on Thursday, in Chikkaballapura where a person named Aziz, allegedly murdered his girlfriend Rohini Khan and surrendered at Srinivasapura police station. These bizarre incidents have triggered an alarm among the police departments across the state. The police believe that the hype given to two previous cases has a huge role to play in these beheading incidents.
According to Rohini Katoch Sepat, who assisted the investigation of the case in Chikkaballapura, “The media hype surrounding the incidents could have had an impact on the persons showing up with severed heads in Mandya and Chikkaballapura,” as reported by The News Minute.
