An inebriated Irish passenger aboard an Air India Mumbai-London flight lost her calm and went on an expletive-filled rant after the crew refused to serve more wine to her. She even allegedly manhandled a flight attendant and verbally abused others after they refused to give her a glass of wine. The incident took place on November 10 on Air India flight AI 131 and the passenger, who was travelling business class, was arrested later at Heathrow airport in London.

“I am a f***ing international lawyer”

A four-minute-long video of the incident has surfaced online where the Irish woman can be seen and heard hurling abuses at the crew members. The video has been shot by another crew member.

While the crew member in the video appears calm, the woman shouted, “I am a f***ing international lawyer.” With profanity, she further said that she has been working for free as an international criminal lawyer for the Rohingyas and that they (Air India crew) can’t even serve her a glass of wine.

She said, “I’m working for all your people. The f**g Rohingyas, the f*g people of all Asia, for you, an international criminal lawyer. Don’t get any money for it, by the way. But you can’t give me a f**g glass of wine, is that correct?”

A source told The Times Of India that after finishing four quarter bottles of wine, she demanded more from the flight attendants and her rant started after they declined. She also threatened to push over the dessert trolley and took an open bottle of wine without permission.

The commander of the flight, who came to know of the unruly passenger also asked the cabin crew members not to serve alcohol and had instructed only female flight attendants to come in contact with her. She also directed her rage at other business class passengers for not coming to her support. Reportedly, the captain even issued a warning letter to her, which she read out loud to the passengers. She then spat in the face of a crew member before twisting her arm and injuring her.

A senior Air India flight attendant told the daily that serving alcohol onboard is entirely upon the discretion of the crew members and that during training, they are trained to de-escalate a situation.
