A 15-year-old visually impaired girl caught a man who had molested her on a Mumbai local train on December 17. The accused, Vishal Baliram Singh was arrested soon after the train reached the very next station. The arrest was not an ordinary one. The teen trained in karate and self-defence caught the hand of her molester’s hand. She skillfully twisted the hands of her molester and coerced him to get on down on his knees.

What happened?

According to a report by Times Now News, the Government Railway Police (GRP) officials said that the girl was returning to her home with her father. Both of them had boarded the Kalyan to Dadar fast train at 8:15 pm. The girl and her father, who is 56-year-old stepped in the compartment reserved for differently abled people. Singh, who is 24 also hopped into the same chamber.

Prasad Pandhare, who is a senior police inspector, Dadar GRP, said that Singh stood behind the girl. He touched her inappropriately. Understanding the ordeal, the girl did not fear. Instead, she twisted his hand to a level that made him scream. This compelled other passengers to turn their heads toward the situation.

The girl told her father about Singh touching her. While speaking to Hindustan Times, Pandhare said, “Until the train reached the next station, Matunga, the girl held Singh — much taller than she is — in a tight grip.”

The officer was impressed with the technique which the girl used. He also said that Singh’s finger would have broken if she had twisted his hands any longer. The officer took a moment to state that the incident did not scare her and she boldly asked the police to arrest him.

As soon as the train reached the Matunga station, the father summoned the GRP officers, who were on duty. He handed Singh to the officers.  Dadar GRP arrested Singh on three charges. He was booked for travelling in the handicap compartment, travelling without ticket, and molestation.

Singh, who is a computer maintenance technician working for a private company is kept in police custody for two days. He hails from Mulund area. The girl said that her school teaches self-defence and karate to confront the world despite their disability. She also mentioned that girls like her are easy targets.

The Logical Indian appreciates the girl for fighting back her molester and giving an apt answer to him.
