Many of us are not aware of the terms we use in our life. Nationalism and patriotism are two words which are often used inter-changeably. Sometimes we see patriotism disguised as nationalism or nationalism disguised as patriotism and we are not able to identify. This is incorrect since there is a world of difference between the two words, in spite of a few shared ideals.

Differences Between Nationalism & Patriotism
Nationalism | Patriotism |
1. Nationalism is a feeling that one’s country is superior to another in all respects with a sentiment of superiority and aggression toward other countries. |
1. Patriotism pertains to the love for a nation, with more emphasis on values and beliefs. The sentiments are more inclined towards the idea of coexistence, with equal respect & regard for other countries. In patriotism, people all over the world are considered equal.
