“Many times we have pondered on the difficulties of taking sports as a full-time career in India and the struggles of a sportsperson.
Just think how difficult it would be for a woman to take sports in our country where sport is not a priority. The perception against sport worsens when it comes to women taking up even recreational sport. We hear about the news of female athletes leaving sports at the peak of their career because of their family. A vast majority of women do not pursue the sport they love beyond adolescence.
For the multi-tasking woman who balances education, career and family among other things, sport doesn’t figure prominently in her priorities!
But there are women who continue to do it all (job, family and play sports of their choice). Their love for sport has equal status to their other responsibilities.
Zeven salutes such women who have struggled to keep their spirit of sports alive and for whom their love for sport has equal status to their other responsibilities. We salute them for their spirit and accomplishment and for inspiring others to make sport a part of their daily life.”
