Team India Surely Won Our Heart But Are The Fans Losing Out On Sensibility?

When Virat Kohli wins us the match, Anushka Sharma gets trolled! When Virat underperforms, Anushka gets all the abuses!

When Yuvraj Singh wins us the match, we do not send packets of sweet to his home, but when he underperforms, stones are pelted at Yuvi’s home!

Great going! And we call ourselves ‘educated’? Is this a sign of a better and progressive society?

Virat Kohli definitely deserves the greater chunk of credits for steering team India’s way to the semi-finals of T20 Cricket World Cup 2016 defeating Australia by 6 wickets. And as expected, Kohli’s masterclass innings of 82 runs off just 51 balls saw one section of cricket enthusiast going gaga praising him. Of course, such occasions call for celebration.

But, while one section poured avalanche of facebook status and tweets praising Virat, another section went on slamming Anushka Sharma, Virat’s ex-beau, trolling her on social media. Many cricket fans tweeted ‘thanking’ her for ‘not disturbing’ the cricket star.

The spate of trolls Anushka faced after Sunday’s match, compelled Virat Kohli to speak out in her defence. Branding this incident to be shameful, Virat posted on Twitter and Instagram saying,

“Shame on those people who have been having a go at anushka for the longest time and connecting every negative thing to her. Shame on those people calling themselves educated. Shame on blaming and making fun of her when she has no control over what i do with my sport. If anything she has only motivated and given me more positivity. This was long time coming. Shame on these people that hide and take a dig. And i dont need any respect for this post. Have some compassion and respect her. Think of how your sister or girlfriend or wife would feel if someone trolled them and very conveniently rubbished them in public.”

This not the first time that Anushka Sharma was trolled for Virat Kohli. She was also targeted on social media last year after Kohli’s poor performance in thje World Cup matches.

The Logical Indian condemns this gesture of the fans by blaming someone else for another person’s success or failure. This stance lacks any compassion and sensibility. Everyone should be given their own personal space, be it a cricketer, any celebrity or any individual. Just because we have the freedom of voicing our thoughts on social media, it should not mean we would go on criticising people without any reason.

Let’s rise up, let’s raise our standards!

Sincerely,
– The Logical Crew
