The Selfie-fever is the biggest phenomenon in the social networking sphere since the past two years. So much so, that even the Oxford Dictionary took the word ‘selfie’ as their Word of the Year 2013.
The selfie trend gave way to people trying to obtain the most eye-catching selfies. That unfortunately, has led to an accident recently. Three friends from New Delhi lost their lives as they were trying to take a selfie in front of a running train.
The accident took place near the tracks of Mathura at around 9:30AM. The deceased have been identified as Yakub (from Moradabad), Iqbal (from Faridabad) and Afzal (from New Delhi). The fourth friend, who has lived to tell the tale is Aneesh.
He said that they were on their way to Agra to see the Taj Mahal on Republic Day when they decided to take the ‘daredevil selfie’. However, the train was coming too fast and caught his friends before they could jump off the tracks in time. Police have sent the bodies for postmortem.
