“I am a woman who broke all norms of our society. After 3 years of separation with my husband, when my father passed away, I asked my husband to either keep me or divorce me. My family was not happy but I had let him make a decision. He chose to divorce me and I walked out the doors with a 3 year old child in my arms. I started looking for a job and found my first job as a lecturer in a semi government Navy college. I decided to live alone with my child and not be a burden on anyone. People thought that being 29 and divorced I was a public property, a disposable human but I had to take a stand for the sake of my child. I was shy but my life made me a furious lioness with a cub to protect. My child was later diagnosed with Asthma,Synus,Allergies and minor Thelesimia. It was tough. I had no money for her treatment. Inspite of that, I took her to the best hospital in the city and found an amazing doctor. I asked him the calculated amount of treatment and diagnosis and straight away went to a goldsmith, took off all the gold rings in my hands and used the money to pay the doctor. She is now healthy and a student of 9th grade. I was 29 then and 41 now. Men approached me for marriage but most of them were more interested in illegal relations and not in Nikkah so it was best for me to remain a single parent. Now when I look back I feel I have reached the shore in a broken boat. The more pain I felt, the more I looked towards Allah and He never disappointed me. He changed my life and my home is a picture of peace now. I must admit that this test was not easy and I have to take medicines for depression even now. But I am glad the difficulties are over. I do not owe a penny to anyone. I am thankful to Allah for all He has been bestowing upon me and my child.”
