Supreme Court has quashed results of All India Pre-Medical Test examination (AIPMT)-2015 held on May 3 due to large scale cheating across country. The results were supposed to be declared on June 5. After the cancellation, about 6.3 lakhs students have to take a fresh exam to get admission into MBBS courses in medical colleges across India.
The court decided to scrap the paper, after reports of misconduct and use of electronic device inside the examination hall came into light. Reportedly, many students were also caught with question paper before the examination date. The court was hearing a batch of petitions filed by candidates, who wrote the exam, seeking its cancellation. Many aspirants who appeared this year took to social media to show their anger and disappointment.
Large-scale irregularities, including leakage of answer keys, had come to the light earlier, with the investigators informing the court that the answer keys of 123 questions were transmitted through 75 mobile phones in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Haryana as reported in Hindustan Times.
It would have been a huge injustice to the deserving students who worked hard for last 2-4 years, but failed to clear the exam due to manipulation and other undeserving students managed to get admission.
