Snapdeal Sells A Sandal Of MRP Rs. 725 At An Inflated Price Of Rs. 3299

One of our community member, Rakesh Shah reported the case of exorbitant pricing over MRP by Snapdeal and brought this to our attention.

Snapdeal has priced a Sparx Sandle at a selling price Rs. 3299. We are astounded to see this Sparx product listed for such an inordinate price while we were certain that the MRP of the product would be certainly much lower. Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the ‘MRP’ on Snapdeal’s site.

When we dug deeper and researched about the product with it’s parent company, we were finally able to trace the MRP of the product which was found to be INR 725! MRP of any product, is the “Maximum” Retail Price and no products can be sold above the MRP as per rules and regulations. Sadly, most of these Indian e-commerce companies try to play smart by not mentioning the MRP, rather mentioning a “Selling Price or Offer price” on their website.

Today we have numerous e-com services and sites in India and most of them play their dirty trick to deceive the customer. The Logical Indian recently reported another these e-com giant cleverly manipulating the selling prices to offer fake discounts. Probably this might be the reason for not displaying the MRP as they can’t manipulate the MRP. Hence they prefer to mention a Selling price, which they can play with over the time as per the opportunity.

We reviewed Flipkart.com and we were glad to see, Flipkart mentioning the MRP of the products.  We believe it should be mandatory for every sites to display the MRP of the products listed on their sites.

But we can hardly expect such strict rules and regulations hence as consumers, let’s ensure not to shop from any online portal which doesn’t provide clear information about the product’s MRP.

We understand just like others, Snapdeal is also a market place. Recently, Snapdeal roped in Bollywood actor Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador. Needless to quote, everyone can figure out the hefty endorsement charges!

Dear Snapdeal, The Logical Indian requests you to kindly invest on building check mechanisms to identify the prices listed by the sellers and eradicate such flaws aroused due to third party sellers. Just be loyal to your customers, log “Dil ki Deal” zarur karengey, bina Aamir ke kahe!
