Bundelkhand’s ‘Roti Bank’ Guarantees Right To Food To The Poorest

We have always dreamed of a country where no person goes without food. Youngsters of Mahoba are contributing in their own way to make this dream a reality!

In Mahoba, one of Bundelkhand’s most backward districts, a group of 40 youngsters and 5 elders have come up with a unique initiative, “Roti Bank”, which aims to give home-cooked rotis and vegetables to the needy every day. The youngsters knock on the doors of common residents, asking them to donate two rotis to their bank so that the poor may be fed.

The initiative made its humble beginnings in April feeding beggars and the destitute at the railway station. Now, however, it has turned into a movement which feeds at least 400 people every day, including patients and attendants outside hospitals, the poor on the roads and the railway station and slum dwellers.

The volunteers have earned the blessings and well-wishes of the hundreds of beneficiaries. The group also ensures that only fresh food is dealt with. However, they are hesitant in expanding their operations fearing wastage of food.

The Logical Indian salutes the sincere endeavors of all the volunteers involved in this amazing initiative and wishes them success in their venture.
