Two school pals in America had an extraordinary reunion when the judge was about to hand over a verdict in a burglary case.
According to a BBC report, this was the occasion when two school friends, who had gone to a middle school together before their paths changed, realised that while one had become an eminent judge, the other was being tried for a petty crime.
The judge, Mindy Glazer, recognised the convict, who was her classmate once upon a time.
“Mr. Booth, I have a question for you,”
“Yes ma’am,” Booth responded.
“Did you go to Nautilus for middle school?” she asked.
For a moment, Booth looks stunned as he begins to recognize his former classmate.
“Oh my goodness,” he said, putting one hand up to the side of his face before breaking down in tears.
He then began sobbing, putting his head down and crying into his hands and then his arms as he repeated, “Oh my goodness.”
“I’m sorry to see you there. I always wondered what happened to you, sir,” she said.
Addressing court, Glazer recalled that Booth was “the nicest kid,” and that his alleged behavior was not the childhood classmate she remembered.
“He was the best kid in middle school, I used to play football with him, all the kids looked up to him. And look what has happened. I’m so sorry to see you there,” the judge said.
Booth, still surprised over the unexpected reunion, could only once again respond, “Oh my goodness.”
As he continued to weep, Glazer wished him luck and told him she was hopeful he could turn his life around.
“Good luck to you, sir. I hope you’re able to come out of this OK and just lead a lawful life,” she said.
