Two Time MP, Former IAS Officer Who Travels To Parliament In His Bicycle

While headlines are abuzz with politicians misusing their privileges as VVIPs, meet Arjun Ram Meghwal, the BJP MP from Bikaner, Rajasthan, who travels to the Parliament on a bicycle. Moreover, Meghwal has also served as an IAS officer in the various capacities in Rajasthan Cadre.

Born in a traditional weaver family of Kismidesar village, Bikaner, Meghwal continued his studies and graduated in Arts (BA) & Law (LLB) and pursued MBA from University of Phillipine, Phillipines.

Meghwal cleared the interview for Rajasthan Administrative Services in his second attempt and got selected for State industrial services. Later, he was promoted to the Indian Administrative Services and worked as District Collector of Churu district. Finally in 2009, he was offered a ticket for Lok Sabha from Bikaner region.

Meghwal says that his ambition is to serve the people to the best of his ability. He was awarded with the Best parliamentarian Award in 2013.
