Delhi: The Free School Under The Metro Bridge

Supported by

Dear Members,

Do you remember our post “A FREE SCHOOL UNDER THE BRIDGE” ? Story of an unusual school in an unusual location and run by an unusual teacher. Rajesh Kumar Sharma is a shopkeeper by profession but spends hours every morning teaching around 200 children from the poorest of the poor in India’s capital. The school, which is situated under Yamuna Flyover, Delhi was started in 2010 by him with only 2 students. Now he teaches 200 children from nearby slums with the help of Laxmi Chandra. Sharma sir dropped out of college because of financial difficulties but is making sure that the poor kids achieve which he couldn’t.

Hindustan Times visited the school and helped the students with basic necessaries that they were devoid of for the last 4 years. This Teacher’s day, we want you to do something similar for the ’cause’ for which Mr. Sharma is dedicated to! Donate books, stationary and try to help teachers to teach students. That will be true tribute to the our teachers.
