My Story: Thank You For Standing With Us Risking Your Own Safety That Night

Supported by

Few days ago, me and my 9 year old son accompanied my husband for his official trip at Pune. The accommodation was provided by the organisation itself where my husband was working.  A day before we left Pune, we went for some shopping and food and we were quite late while returning. We halted the car near a small pan shop on the highway as my son wanted to get down for toilet.

There were 3 people near the shop and late night at 2 AM we felt confident getting down the car by seeing them. Bad luck struck when my husband and son were about to board the car.  Those 3 people along with the shop owner came towards us and started asking various questions. They started abusing him and passed lewd comments on me. All I was worried was about my son who was in the car terribly scared. Those people also slapped my husband which started a fight. Our screams n chaos were heard by a few passersby but no one cared to interfere.

All of a sudden we saw this person in the photograph turning his bike towards us. I was already in trauma and was not able to react to the situation. He not only fought with those 4 people but also forced them to flee from the place. He later followed our car and safely escorted us till our serviced apartments at Baner where we were staying. He broke the visor of his helmet in the fight but still accompanied us on his motorcycle which was around 20 kms from where the incident happened.

I guess this person who told his name as Rana Pratap Bhattacharya was in a hurry as he bid us adieu from the security check of the building. We were only able to have a conversation with him for very few minutes and did not even get time to thank him properly. He gave his number to my husband in case of any emergency. We left Pune for Faridabad the next evening. We called this person before leaving but there was no response to the call.

I downloaded this display picture from his Whatsapp Profile as me, my family and on behalf of every wife and mother truly want to thank this person for his courage and humanity. I don’t know what would have happened that night if he did not approached us understanding the seriousness of the situation.

Thank you Mr Rana Pratap Bhattacharya for standing with us risking your own safety that night. We don’t have words to express for what you did for us.
