“My mother died of cancer a few years ago and my father remarried after that. Gradually, he was so influenced by my stepmother that they both started imposing their decisions on me. I was given just two choices – get married or leave the house.

I was an HR graduate and wanted to pursue the same field. But I was led down emotionally and mentally every time I spoke of my choices. I had started feeling suffocated and had thought of leaving the house multiple times. But I knew I couldn’t get any support if I went outside – friends couldn’t come forward due to the society that already saw me with hatred.

But I realized worse was to stay inside and kill my inner self. So I packed my clothes, found a flat in Bangalore and left the house with wet red eyes and just Rs. 3500. I got a training and started working at a reputable company. Life in the following year wasn’t easy, I was mentally and physically struggling.

I was crying in front of a mirror one day and saw how my face tried to convey the bottled-up inside feelings. I thought that how interesting it would be to paint my life on a canvas in case I die. I drew something known as a Biographic Painting and it was appreciated by everyone who saw it. My mentor who had always treated me like his daughter was the happiest to see me. Painting that made me think of so many other stories of people living lives with so many flavours and how those would look on a canvas.

Overwhelmed by this idea, I realized my passion and planned the impending future. Diving deep down in it, I got closer to art, soul and imaginative perception. I always painted with my heart. Neither with precision, nor with logic but the very free will of my soul which could be felt deep down my inner consciousness.

I strongly believe in the artistic, soulful, sincere, mystical and honest flow of emotions and intentions when portraying a person’s life on a canvas. I ask them a series of questions carefully designed to understand various shades of a person’s life so I could paint the journey of their life on a canvas as honestly and as beautifully I could.

The questions would cover their childhood moments, dreams, aspirations, secrets, fantasies, fears, heart aches, desires, emotions, passions and much more. Based on these answers, I would portray their life in a symbolic, artistic and a poetic manner on a canvas.
