A few days back me and my friend stopped by a dhaba in NH 33 while coming back to Jamshedpur from Ranchi. As we ordered food for ourselves, I saw three cute puppies playing around. I couldn’t resist myself and went play with them.
After a while, the dhaba owner handed me a bottle of milk and said, “Bhaiya! Inko ye doodh pila dijiye, inki maa mar gayi hai (Please feed them this milk, their mother has died).”
I was more than happy to do that, I gave the weaker one a little extra. As I finished doing that, the dhaba owner came to me with a soap, bowl and water and said, “Bhaiya! Haath dho lijiye. Aaj aapka puja ho gaya” (Please wash your hands. Today you’ve done worship).
I was stunned at the profound knowledge he conveyed in a single sentence. I took the soap, washed my hands and ate the food, but kept wondering that if all of us could understand this simple concept that humanity is above all religions, its religious practices and every creature is the manifestation of the Almighty then life would be so much better and there would exist nothing such as intolerance. Isn’t it?
