In a shocking display of barbaric violence, the limbs of two men were chopped off after an argument broke out at a farmhouse allegedly owned by a leader of the ruling Akali Dal. The incident took place at Abohar subdivision in Punjab’s Fazilka district on Friday night.
One of the two victims, 27-year-old Bheem, died on the way to the hospital after both his arms and legs were chopped off. The other victim, Gurjant Singh had one arm and one leg severed and was admitted in critical condition in Amritsar.
The farmhouse where the incident took place is allegedly owned by liquor baron, Shiv Lal Doda, who is also a member of the ruling Akali Dal. The accused henchmen led by Harpreet Harry are suspected to be Doda’s workers.
Following the attack, the villagers reportedly set several liquor shops owned by Doda on fire demanding his arrest on charges of murder. Additional police forces were deployed to bring the situation under control.
An FIR has been filed against about a dozen people including Doda and his nephew. The police have so far booked 14 people on various charges including murder.
