Transforming Education: AAP Opens New World-Class School in Rohini for 2,000 Students

The AAP government has opened a new world-class school in Rohini, featuring advanced facilities to enhance educational opportunities for local children.

On November 21, 2024, the AAP-led government inaugurated a new world-class school in Rohini Sector-27, aimed at enhancing education for local children. Chief Minister Atishi highlighted the facility’s 121 classrooms and 10 laboratories, which will accommodate over 2,000 students. This initiative addresses previous challenges such as long travel distances for families and reflects the government’s commitment to education, with nearly 25% of the budget allocated to this sector.

A New Era for Education

The four-storey school features advanced facilities including a central library and multipurpose hall. Atishi stated, “Even the best private schools in the area cannot match its facilities,” emphasizing its significance for families who previously traveled 10-15 km for schooling. Success stories like Shilpi, who is now studying chemical engineering at IIT Guwahati, illustrate how quality education can transform lives. However, challenges remain, including a high absenteeism rate of nearly 33% among students in government schools and the controversial policy regarding Class 9 students who fail twice.

Background and Commitment

This inauguration fulfills a promise made by Arvind Kejriwal during his 2015 visit to the area. The AAP government has consistently prioritized education, allocating substantial budget resources and investing in teacher training abroad. Despite these efforts, issues such as overcrowding in schools and the need for improved infrastructure in poorer districts remain pressing challenges. The recent “Shiksha Par Baat” initiative aims to involve parents in shaping educational policies and addressing these concerns.
