A fire broke out at the Muslim Public School in Srinagar on November 14, 2024, damaging the top floor of the building but resulting in no casualties. The incident occurred around noon during ongoing classes, prompting the swift evacuation of approximately 300 students and staff. Fire officials, aided by police and CRPF personnel, contained the blaze using ten fire tenders. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, while Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakeena Masood has assured support for the school’s recovery efforts.

The fire erupted in the Kursoo Rajbagh area at approximately 12:31 PM, affecting the school’s top floor. According to Srinagar divisional fire officer Zorawar Singh, the prompt response from emergency services ensured that all students and faculty were evacuated safely before any injuries occurred. “The fire did not spread anywhere else; only the top floor was affected,” Singh confirmed. Following the incident, Education Minister Sakeena Masood visited the site to assess damage and discuss recovery plans with school officials and local authorities. During her visit, she praised the quick action of firefighters and reassured parents about safety measures.
