My Story: “We Felt So Safe That Our Entire Fear, Apprehensions Were Gone, Kudos To UP Police”

“Oftener than not we read stories full of pain, frustration, and motivation. My story is a bit different. So I went on trekking to Uttarakhand and due to bad weather conditions we got stuck there for an extra day. There were some urgent things to be taken care of in Delhi so we decided to leave by the night, I was very skeptical about traveling at night after the ‘Bulandshahr’ rape incident, but the work was really urgent so my friend insisted and we went ahead.

It was pitch dark and hardly there was any traffic (we took Pauri -Kotdwar route ) The road was really scary at night with jungle both sides. It was so lonely and the roads were so secluded that we even spotted a cub on the road.

But we were more afraid of men on the road than these animals. My friend was only concentrating on the drive as he was driving at the speed of 120 throughout and instead of enjoying the drive we were stressed and frightened. All sort of thoughts were coming to our mind. He was reassuring me again and again that he is there with me and there is no need to be worried but my mind was constantly telling me ‘it was a family of 6’ and still, such unfortunate thing happened. We both were trying to be normal through the drive but there was this fear that was not letting us be.

As we crossed Kotdwar and reached Bijnor, I started getting jitters as I had heard a lot of bad stories about the place.

To my utter surprise Starting from Bijnor till NCR there was constant police patrolling and there were barricades after every 5KM.

We felt so safe that our entire stress, fear apprehensions were gone in seconds. They were like guardian angels for us assuring us at every point that we are safe. We were totally carefree after that, we started enjoying the journey a lot, we even started taking breaks in the middle of nowhere.

Kudos to UP Police, I really felt like thanking each one of them.

The reason of sharing this story is that we often curse our government and police for not doing many things but we do not appreciate things they do for us. If some mishap had happened on the road , we would have read the stories all over social media but I want to take out time to appreciate the police for making us feel so safe when they are around.”
