My Story: After My Retirement, The Loneliness Hit Me Hard. My Wife Passed Away Long Back & The Kids Were Busy In Their Lives

“After my retirement, the loneliness hit me hard. The kids were settled and busy in their lives – wife passed away long back – grandkids were quite busy in their urban schooling lifestyle. So one day I woke up and started walking. I walked till evening, there was nothing to lose, nothing to worry. On returning home, I realized I do not want to lead a meaningless lifestyle. The walk had made me introspect and feel the energy still leftover in me.

I decided to use it to spread the spirit of life in youngsters, to promote health awareness, to walk-trek-climb-jump-slide, to just breathe free and live it fully. I started my journey of adventures under the name of Mr.Super Senior. I’ve been to Kailash Mansarovar Yatras for two consecutive years (2014-2015) and then I shifted to more variations. Like Zanskar Winter Expedition – Leh-Padam-Leh trekking (2015), National Mountain Biking Expedition – Jim Corbett, Manali-Leh Highway (2016) and many more. I’ve been through two major stomach operations. I also have severe varicose veins and doctors denounce me from taking such adventurous journeys to keep me from fatal health issues. During some of my trips to a higher altitude, I face problems due to this health history but I have always believed mental attitude wins over anything physical. I rather increased the scope of toughness. Began with walking, shifted to trekking and now I’ve found cycling as my latest tool for further explorations. My latest plan is to become the “oldest man to cycle The Golden Rectangle – South East Asia – Central Europe in

My latest plan is to become the “oldest man to cycle The Golden Rectangle – South East Asia – Central Europe in a minimum amount of time. This would simply be a source of motivation for me to go on further journeys and moreover, convey a message to the young kids who are now stationed with technology. They have lost touch with the real essence of nature. I am 69 and I feel it is never too late, never too fast, never too bad to do the things that make you happy, healthy and young. I just want to propagate this feeling to as many as possible, with as much energy and the life I am left with.”
